When our London tree surgeons perform a tree crown reduction they ensure that all the branches are cut back to a suitable length and back to a suitable growth point.  The entire crown is thereby reduced in size and volume through careful tree cutting, but we maintain a pleasing shape in line with a natural profile for the species of tree being worked on.

How much should be removed during a tree crown reduction?

A local tree surgeon may recommend a 30% reduction, but this is only a guideline, as the tree dictates how much can be removed based on available growth points.  Also, it is important to understand that the crown of the tree refers to the branch work.  A 30% crown reduction will not reduce the overall height of the tree by 30%.
